March of Diversity is an event that celebrates diversity in general and seeks equal rights for gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgender in Guadalajara Jalisco, in 2010 celebrates its fourteenth edition.
also known as gay pride march and LGBT in the capital of Jalisco, is currently one of the marches that has more edits in Latin America with cities such as São Paulo, Buenos Aires and Mexico City.
This event is held usually the second week of June, and has a respectable organization.
The first openly gay sucite mobilization in 1978 in Mexico City when a spontaneous homosexual quota jointly participated in the march commemorating the tenth anniversary of government crackdown on October 2, but the first formal gay pride march was held in the capital of the country in 1979 organized by the Homosexual Front of Revolutionary Action Group Oikabeth Autonomo Lesbian, and Gay Liberation Lambda Group.
The first manifestations and gay organizations in Guadalajara is tightly bound in the decade of 80's in response to harassment by former ultra-conservative government Romero de Velasco.
In 1983, the hand of the Gay Pride group (Gohl) headed by activist Pedro Preciado Guadalajara performing the first movement in Guadalajara in an atmosphere of hostility and repression that violated the civil rights guarantees and thousands of homosexuals as well as the following public demonstrations were also held back for fifteen years, despite some cultural events were held during that time.
The march of diversity as such was born in Guadalajara in 1996, after several moves against homophobia in the city.
Pearl Ochoa was the first city in the country after Mexico City where marches, demonstrations and openly gay sprout demanding equal rights for the LGBT community.
