Expired Methocarbamol

Sorolla. Vision of Spain

For a rare chance, I had the opportunity to visit the last few dates in Valencia, the exhibition "Sorolla . Vision of Spain. " Collection of the Hispanic Society of America . " When this collection was exhibited at the Museo del Prado (May 26 to September 13, 2009), part of the anthology "Joaquín Sorolla 1863-1923" I had a chance to see it, so the announcement to my unexpected, this last chance to see these works of Sorolla at Bancaja Cultural Centre (from October 1 to January 10, 2010) has been a pleasant surprise that I have hastened to exploit.

Joaquin Sorolla's paintings incorporated into the exposure of Bancaja's forty-eight in all, gathered in three different sets: first, the fourteen large panels charge the artist for Sir Archer Milton Huntington 2 for the Hispanic Society of 3 America who are accompanied by eight other paintings owned by the same institution, second, the twelve previous studies prior to large murals and third, the collection of paintings by Sorolla owned by Bancaja, with the awesome! Sad legacy to the head.

Sevilla. Nazarenes

Regarding the first, the fourteen murals in the Vision of Spain, (70 meters wide in total for 3 ½ high, each) restored in situ by a team of restorers English and U.S. led by Vicente cabbage, we can only marvel at the magnitude of the undertaking that occupied the artist from 1911 to 1919 and admire the results. I do not share the view of some who consider it decadent, topical and a customs and outdated. Sorolla painted what he wanted, according to the order made by the American tycoon, who first wanted a series of paintings of historical events highlights of Spain and Portugal. Are realistic studies of thoroughbred types, drawn from life, integrated natural and idealized landscapes that the artist deemed essential to the understanding of English life of his time. No I like them all equally. My favorites are, in order " Ayamonte. Tuna fishing "chronologically the last of the series (May-June 1919), work in which according to scholars and Thomas Garin surge sorollesco chord white and blue organizing composition" Then I like "Sevilla. The Nazarenes ", (March-April 1914), composition in the foreground, addressed the audience and the right side (the types of Toledo) of the giant panel The bread festival (February-December 1913).

afternoon sun

require separate mention the eight tables that belong to the extensive collection of works by Sorolla-hundred and fifty part-owned by the Hispanic Society and accompanying panels. Of these draws the immediate attention of visitors the monumental "Evening Sun " by its author considered the culmination of his maturity as an artist, not to mention the wonderful "Idyll in the sea " beach scene with bodies lying in the sun that represents the ideal Mediterranean as cultivated and pursued by Sorolla or bright and colorful "Leaving the bathroom " . By the way I've always been struck by the fact of them children and young men are completely naked, while they are dressed in long robes, which critics says, attributing to the evocation of the classical world that the artist represented. Magnificent are also portraits, especially that of Louis Comfort Tiffany operator 4 , full integration of the figure in a flowered landscape and color the most contentious of Echegaray old painter and Raimundo de Madrazo .

sad legacy

Finally, among the fourteen works of Sorolla Bancaja exposed property, stands out in itself, one of them "Sad legacy ", oil on canvas, painted by artist in 1899, already had occasion to consider in a previous trip to Valencia. Framed within a theme of "social painting" or "complaint" (remember the no less famous "And even say that fish is expensive ! ") this painting meant the international recognition of the English painter Sorolla and most famous of his time to get the Grand Prix of the Paris Universal Exhibition of 1900. Copy-sometimes it is wise to copy the text, Felipe V. Garin Llombart, curator of the exhibition, wrote on the subject and on the back of the poster with the reproduction of this painting, with which flatters Bancaja visitors:

" was painted in the summer of 1899 on the beach Cabañal, arriving Sorolla on holiday with his family willing to make some paintings for the Universal Exhibition in Paris the following year. The Sorolla account as intended, seeing how far a group of naked children at the Hospital de San Juan de Dios "hangover of society, insane, feeble or lepers ..." accompanied by a priest. Previous studies did, I doubt the picture, and were his friends and journalists in the writing of "The People" who encouraged him and gave him the title, even better than he had proposed, which was "Children of Pleasure" . The picture was sent to the Paris Exposition and together with other won the Grand Prix. The victory triggered the recognition of Valencia: the City was named "favorite son" and gave him a downtown street the city still endures.

The work, with long horizontal strokes and the narrow strip of sky in shades of purple, gives a dramatic overall tone to the scene, where children grow and patent defects and the monk, with his black habit made him think Beruete , as well recalls Javier Barón-in "the monks and ascetics of the great English masters of the seventeenth century." Received very mixed reviews, but certainly had a wide popularity and was a key way in his own painting. "

not miss the exhibition.
