White Dress Initiation

RETROSCOPIO
By: Lwdovick

Each year during the last 2 weeks of June in various cities around the world are held marches Gay Prides or sexual diversity. Quirky characters, music, colors, banners and slogans travel a set route, activists, traders and spectators are the actors than many of their appearance can call carnival, but differs from what could have been seen at these events for 20 years and even more of what it was 41.

was 41 years ago, on June 28, 1969 when Stonewall Riots happened in a hotel in Greenwich Village in New York City. Amid a wave of social movements and a climate hostile to homosexuals, they found the conditions for a revolt by a community that had lived in hiding. Gays and transvestites

in those years they met in bars and hotels, were arrested in continuing and increasingly frequent police raids on these places, at last June 28 during a raid at the Stonewall Hotel Inc., the nonconformity is noted, initially by customers and then by observers shouting "Gay Power" along with songs from the era began the first of several confrontations with police that lasted for several days.

As a result of the Stonewall riots were set up groups for LGBT rights that they only 2 years of no riots was only in America but also in Canada, Australia and Europe. And while Stonewall was not the only nor the first event of this genre, marked a significant point in the struggle for LGBT rights, so much so that the marches (originally protests) are organized around the June 28 of each year. Later

LGBT rights movement that broke off from the Stonewall riots were marked mainly by its character of protest, although no large organization would have enough with the fact that all looked the same: visibility, respect and equality. Currently still looking for the same respect (not that this implies tolerance and support or allow something that is not acceptable), equality and inclusion.

With what I have raised before I can freely say that it is unacceptable that 41 years have passed and no significant advances have resulted in these marches, except of course, the visibility that these are, and really the problem is not in the expression of the participants (floats, costumes and music) and that these aspects are its peculiarity to the Gay Pride, the problem is that political discourse and the character of protest is overshadowed by the event itself, where are those common goals on the way?, where were the associations and groups that lead the contingent?, if they were present occupying the first places, but each with its particular purpose, gentlemen remember is to not only presence, is also doing joint.

Finally I emphasize Guadalajara progress this year in which the rally was only cultural, perhaps what we require are not rights, what should not be made clear that march and protest?
